♔The Wren- James Graham

Amid the leafless thorn
the merry Wren,
When icicles hang dripping
from the rock,
Pipes her perennial lay;
Even when the flakes
Broad on her pinions fall,
She lightly flies
Athwart the shower
and sings upon the wing.

~James Graham

For such a small bird the wren has a remarkably loud voice.The Wrens reliance on insects mean they perish easily during prolonged periods of cold weather. With 8.5 million breeding pairs the wren is the UK’s most common bird.
