Twilight at Loch Shiel,Scotland

Twilight at Loch Shiel in the Lochaber area of the Highlands of Scotland.

This dramatic landscape was used for some of the spectacular scenes in the Harry Potter film the Prisoner of Azkaban, and is the location of the fictional Black Lake near Hogwarts. But due to the great number of midges (small flies), the lakeside scenes involving actors were made at Virginia Water Lake in Surrey.

The loch was also used in the filming of the 1953 British film, “Master of Ballantrae”, starring Errol Flynn.
