Princess Diana, and her sons Prince William and Prince Harry during a photo opportunity in Palma De Mallorca, Spain on August 13,1988.

Prior to Princess Diana’s death, on August 31 1997, (19 years ago today), Diana conducted an interview with Martin Bashir, a reporter from BBC1. During the interview she mentioned a touching piece of advice she had given to Prince William at the time…

“I went to the school and put it to William, particularly, that if you find someone you love in life, you must hang onto it, and look after it, and if you were lucky enough to find someone who loved you, then you must protect it.”

At the time of Princess Diana’s death, Prince William was 15-years-old and his brother, Prince Harry, was 12.
